Many medical conditions are stable over long periods, so that a doctor may authorise repeat prescriptions between checks on your progress.
Requests for repeat prescriptions should be made on the unused portion of your prescription form and handed into the reception staff, posted through the letterbox when the surgery is closed or online via the link at the top of this page (you must first register with the surgery for this facility).
You may also register with a local chemist for them to obtain your repeat prescriptions.
We DO NOT take repeat prescriptions over the telephone.
The new prescription will be ready to collect after 48 hours.
Help with NHS costs
In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.
